It’s My Time to Make Things Happen

When my flight landed in Las Vegas last Wednesday I was feeling intimidated & nervous. I flew to Vegas specifically to attend the Making Things Happen Workshop hosted by Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Southern Weddings Magazine Lara Casey along with photographers Gina Zeidler & Natalie Norton. Excited about the opportunity ahead of me, I knew that at the end of the day I would be different person. I was taking a step into a new chapter of my life and honestly I wasn’t so sure that I was ready for the change.

The workshop was emotional. It was raw. It was real. To get the most out of the workshop you had to be completely open and honest with yourself. It wasn’t the time to hold anything back.

I stood in front of a bunch of strangers and admitted my fears. I realized that the fears that I’ve carried with me for all these years are the roadblocks that are in the way of me reaching my full potential. Not just in photography, but life in general.

Making Things Happen has made me put my life goals into perspective. After 12 hours, I left feeling like I can go out into the world and be myself. I don’t have time in my life to worry about what other people think. I want to live my life to it’s fullest potential and I can’t do that worrying about things I cannot change.

The outcome of this workshop is what you make of it. I feel so blessed that I’ve been given the tools to go out into the world and show everyone that I.AM.SHAYLA!
